Brazil is known for its footballing heritage and has a deep-rooted passion for the relationship to Bundesliga due to former players and vibrant national team match ups.

With the pitch in Vidigal, a favela in in the south of the city, the Common Ground pitch is located in a dedicated multi-sport area with direct connection to a public school, which frequently uses the pitch. PE classes, training session and daily pick-up matches take place on the pitch and the surroundings allow for easy access.

One of the most active group on the pitch is the Cypa football school. Paulo Cypa started, along with other residents of Vidigal, a soccer school helping kids to deal with threats of society and drug traffic. His project has more than 30 years of acting not only on teaching soccer but changing young boys’ lives. Inspiring and showing another reality for the ones who are born and live at the favelas.
